On Wednesday 6th December during our Community Health Champions Christmas Celebration, we celebrated the work that the champions have been up to in 2023. We would like to say a huge thanks to The Hub@ST6 part of Fegg Hayes Futures for hosting us with lovely and warm facilities and most importantly, a very tasty Christmas buffet.

During the session, we had a fun time coming up with answers to the jokes/questions from our Christmas crackers.

This was followed by a walk-through of the Stoke-on-Trent Community Directory which is an online tool to help you find out about activities, clubs, support, health services, and what’s on in your local area. This searchable online directory contains details of a wide range of care providers, services, self-help groups, community, and voluntary organisations and much more.  We also shared how champions could share information about the services they provide to the community by adding themselves onto the Directory.

We also introduced the Totally Stoked Awards and encouraged champions to make nominations of individuals who have made a positive impact in their local communities. Do take a look at the website for more information and don’t miss out!

Andrea, Helen and the Team at The Hub, Fegg Hayes, shared about the amazing work their champions have been doing and some exciting things coming up for 2024 with their work supporting all ages in the community.  It was encouraging to hear about all the hard work and dedication the Team has to supporting their local community and their volunteers.  Please do take some time to look at their website and check them out on Facebook also.

The Champions also got to spend time getting to know each other by participating in our Christmas card exchange.  Through this, they got to make connections with each other and were able to establish new relationships to help develop and enhance the work they provide to their local communities.
