Councillor Lorraine Beardmore, Stoke-on-Trent City Council cabinet member for culture, leisure and public health, said: “We can’t wait for this year’s Potters ‘Arf. It’s such an inspiring, unique and community-spirited occasion that brings so many benefits for Stoke-on-Trent. Residents always line the streets to cheer everyone on and the atmosphere is amazing – seeing that again is going to be incredible.
“For those who take on the challenge, it’s a great boost for mental and physical health. The effects of the pandemic have highlighted just how important those things continue to be, so we’re encouraging as many people as possible to give it a go and sign up for the challenge.”
We want the Potters ‘Arf to be the biggest running event of 2022. It is one of the most unique races in the UK, with amazing Stokie support; places for all; a wonderful atmosphere at the city centre finish; special Potteries medals, and fantastic challenges.
It includes walking and relay team sections for those who do not want to run the full distance. There is also 1km (5–11-year-olds) and 2km (12–16-year-olds) junior races for youngsters.
All participants who complete the course receive a goody bag and special Potters ’Arf medal provided by Wade Ceramics. Junior runners will also receive a special medal from BeeActive.
The safety of residents and participants is of the upmost importance, and national guidance will be regularly reviewed in the run-up to the event.
