Expectant mums and mums with young children are now able to access and update their pregnancy record for the first time.
My Pregnancy Notes is a web based system that launched on Wednesday July 21.
It’s being offered by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and will be two years ahead of a national target for digital pregnancy records to be made available.
Heather Johnstone, a former Midwife and Senior Responsible Officer for the Together We’re Better Maternity Transformation programme, said: “This is all about giving mums more control and support over their care when they give birth, and before and after their baby is born.
“People will be able to access their My Pregnancy Notes records on any computer, tablet or smartphone using a secure browser.
“They will be able to view and update their record. They will be able to upload their preferences for the birth and beyond, record a pregnancy diary, record a mood diary, keep a diary of baby’s feeds and access the latest NHS leaflets and other advice around the clock.
“Partners, other family members and some health professionals can also be granted access to view the notes.”
Midwives across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent are being trained on the system and they will be able to advise expectant mums on how it works.

Anyone who is booked to give birth with University Hospitals of the North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) can take advantage of some additional functions which their midwives will explain to them. It is hoped these extra functions, including self-referral to maternity services, will also be available through My Pregnancy Notes to everyone in the future.
