Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent health providers have made the decision to stand-down the system critical incident.
In the run-up to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, the decision was taken to declare a critical incident across the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System, with all providers and partners struggling to maintain routine services due to increasing demand and staffing issues due to COVID-19.
Since the Bank Holiday weekend, continued improvement has been seen across the system with good discharge numbers in hospitals and more movement and capacity across the care system. Due to the improved position, the critical incident has now been stood down.
Pressures on the NHS and care system do remain and the public are still encouraged to think NHS 111 first when they think they have an urgent need for services, especially 111 online, and the public are thanked for doing this over the weekend.
