Many people are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes without even recognising it. Diabetes is a serious condition but making some changes to your lifestyle can prevent the development of Type 2 diabetes and make a real difference to your health.

If your doctor thinks you may be at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, you will receive a letter from them about a service which can help you, called the National Diabetes Prevention Programme.  This is a free programme delivered at a venue in your local area or on-line if you prefer.  Friendly trained coaches will help you to make small changes to prevent you developing Type 2 diabetes.  There is no activity involved in the 13 sessions and support is provided throughout.

Want to know more?

The Know your risk questionnaire will help you find out your level of risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.  If you are concerned, you can ask your doctor for a blood test.  You can also download the Healthier You – Your Journey leaflet which explains more about the programme and includes some contact information.

If you have a group and would like someone to attend to explain more about the programme, you can contact Ann Gray at [email protected].
